Dislikes:
1. Being hot. I used to be the girl who would wear jackets in the air conditioning of the summer and rarely use the air conditioner in my car. Not so much any more. I am hot all the time. And summer is only starting!
2. Allergies. While mine aren't terribly bad, I still dislike them.
3. Waking up for work. So I slept in and went in a little later than normal.
Likes:
1. The Fourth of July. I put up some decorations today and intend to keep them up the full month of July. Love it!
2. Sourdough pancakes. Today we ate them with peaches on top. Pretty tasty.
3. Feeling the baby move. I've finally been able to distinguish baby movement from all the other rumblings down there. I guess it's been about a week that I've actually felt him. And I like that reassurance that he's still alive and kickin'. Weird and amazing all at the same time!

Some things are out of my control
I've been gaining weight. And for once in my life that is probably a good thing. I mean, I'm pregnant after all.
And I realize that the weight gain is natural but it is most unfortunate that I can't control where I gain the weight.
I had an experience yesterday that made me laugh...mostly.
I have a co-worker who I adore. She hadn't seen me in a few weeks but we met up for lunch yesterday. She has been commenting throughout my pregnancy that I don't look at all pregnant. So, I asked her if I was looking pregnant yet. She said that maybe I was finally starting to show a little. She then proceeded to touch my stomach at the place I'm sure she thought was the baby and said something directed to the little guy. I had to let her know she was directing her comments NOT to the baby boy but the bonus roll of fat right above the baby bump. Awesome!
And just to be clear, here's a picture to demonstrate. (Though I can't believe I'm posting this! I look really not good.)
I am also sporting bonus pounds in other less than desirable places, like my hips and thighs. In fact, I'm pretty certain the smallest part about me these days is where the baby is actually located.
Good times!
PS...I swore I wouldn't turn this blog into a pregnancy journal. But it's probably not the first time, or the last, that I will have to eat my words.

Half Baked
Jacob and I went to my ultrasound this morning. I am officially at the half-way point. It was pretty fun seeing the baby, even though it was a little uncooperative for a nice view of it's face and profile. Don't get me wrong, we saw it's face but there just wasn't a really good picture opportunity. So we have pictures of feet and legs and arms. But the baby was less shy about letting us know it's gender.
We are pleased to announce we are having a BOY!
Jacob's sister had a boy in April so she was definitely rooting for a boy cousin. Especially since they are moving out here in a month. (We're very excited to have family close by!)
And my family is pretty ready for a boy after a string of six baby girls!
And Jacob was really wanting a boy. I'm not sure how he would have taken the news if it was a girl. I'm not sure how I would have either. I was pretty sure I wanted a boy too.
So now we have the task of choosing a name. It could be a struggle. I'm not sure how many boy names we can agree on. I'm sure we'll come up with something :)
