Turning the Soil

Isaac could not get enough of helping in the garden.  We were turning the soil a couple Saturdays ago and I had to bust out the camera because he was so excited.  I also love that he has started rejecting his shoes while outside.  I know my whole childhood was spent shoeless.  I still really don't love shoes.  But Isaac will take his sandals off anytime he is in dirt or sand because he hates when the dirt gets in his sandals.  It was all fine and good until he stepped under the pine trees on all the dry pine needles.  That was less fun for him.

Also, if you are wondering about his awesome outfit, it was warm but I was lazy and didn't want to put sunscreen on so he had his jacket and hood on.  I'm worried about his head burning with his super short hair!  Eventually he rejected the jacket so I had to bust out the sunscreen and sun hat anyway.

Jacob also showed Isaac a worm.  He was tentative at first and then touched it and picked it up on his own. He played with it for a little while.  I'm just surprised he didn't try and eat it.  Gross.

So now we just need to get the plants in.  We've had such a mild spring that I think we might risk planting a little early this season.  I hope Isaac can refrain from pulling up the plants.  He was helping me weed out front today and kept pulling up plants.  Not sure how to teach an 18 month old what is weed and what is not.

Random Cuteness

One morning while I was at a Relief Society day of service, Jacob and Isaac went to Dr. Suess story time at Target.  And Isaac came home with a bag full of goodies including this Lorax mustache.  It is awesome.

Isaac has loved to read to us lately.  And he really likes looking at the Ensign, nursery manual, or our gospel photos book.  He knows that this is the Prophet.  And he says it really cute.  He also says church and temple though he often calls the temple a church.  It is confusing after all.

And we recently gave Isaac a hair cut.  It's short and cute and makes him look so much older.  It's probably actually shorter than I would have liked it but what can you do.  I guess he's ready for summer.

He still spends a good chunk of his day gazing out windows at birds and squirrels

Easter

This was our Easter morning.

Isaac found his Easter basket hanging out in the upstairs hallway.

He got scissors and for the next several days would not put them down.  That is until he lost them all.  I don't know where all three pair of scissors are.  That is ridiculous.  And it drives me nuts.  I'm kinda anal about keeping track of Isaac's stuff.  It's weird, but it's who I am.

He also got some new bubbles and has been playing with them quite regularly too.  Though most of the time we use them outside.

Then, Isaac was so pleased to find that he could take his now emptied basket to hunt for Easter eggs.  He had been playing with the empty eggs for weeks so when he picked one up and shook it he was thrilled to find something was hidden inside.  Mostly goldfish crackers and dried cranberries, but he did get some jelly beans and chocolate eggs too.  Man does he love the jelly beans!  Though he might have been just as excited by the cranberries.  Maybe he is my son after all.

The rest of our Easter was spent enjoying church and family.  We had Sarah, Kevin, Maxwell and baby Riley over for dinner.  Dinner was okay.  The chicken got cooked too long in my crockpot.  That was a bummer because I'm certain it would have been really good if it was done right.

Catch Up - Part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures from Utah (and a little before). Do you ever have the experience of really anticipating looking at all the photos you thought you took over a vacation or something and then you pull the photos up on your computer and say "huh, there aren't very many pictures. And surely none that are great. Bummer."
Welcome to that experience for me.

This first picture is just one that I thought was hilarious. One morning I was doing laundry in preparation to leave for Utah and Isaac always like to "help." This morning that consisted of finding a clean bib and putting in on backwards and then playing with the baskets. He wore that bib all morning and would get mad if even asked if he wanted to take it off.
This is the quilt I made for John's baby boy, Logan. Logan arrived close to 4 weeks early and the pictures I've seen of him are adorable. So tiny! Hope he likes his quilt and I wish I lived closer to hold him a little.
The back.
And one time, while we were in Utah, we went to the zoo. Good times were had by all. At least good times were had after the wind died down. That Salt Lake canyon breeze is a chilly one!!
Some of the zoo going crowd. I need copies of the pictures dad took with everyone else's cameras that had everyone but dad in them. Anyone have that picture?
Aunt Shannon, Isaac and a rhino. The real rhino actually scared Isaac a little. Same with the Gorillas. Hope it's not a lasting fear because I have plans to go to the Denver zoo another time or two this year.
Uncle Sam.
Katie and Jeremiah too.
Isaac loving the birds.
The giraffes were fun because they were on our level.
And lastly, a peacock displaying his full glory.

Catch Up

You know when you feel so far behind in something you wonder if it's even worth it to try and catch up? That is this blog at this point. So here is my feeble attempt at catching up, though I'm missing a lot of pictures that are on other cameras or other cards. I guess I'll get to those another day.
Now that this quilt has been gifted I can post it (I have another one to post, but the pictures weren't on this card apparently.)
This is the front of the quilt I made for Diana's baby boy that is due in June. I bought all the fabric before the ultrasound tech messed up and told them the gender of their baby so it is "gender neutral" as it were.
And the back...
I tried taking pictures without Isaac in them but that wasn't happening. He is such an attention hog. :)
And then there was that time we went to Utah for a week to see ALL of my family. It was a good time. Crazy with all of us there, but good.
This was taken on the way out.
Too bad that cuteness only lasted 45 minutes. 45 MINUTES! He usually naps for 2-3 hours and he slept 45 minutes in the car. Whatever. He woke up pretty happy and didn't get too cranky so I can't really complain that much.
We threw a baby shower for Diana while we were all together. This was the only picture that turned out not blurry. I guess the candy is the most important part any way...
We were able to enjoy conference together. Well, I don't know if we really enjoyed conference because with all those kids it was a little hard to focus on the talks. But we did enjoy being together. These girls were really cute with their conference bingo. This cuteness lasted way longer than I thought it would. They were actually pretty attentive for about an hour or so.
And these boys were rowdy. And really fun. I loved watching Isaac try to be like his big cousins and his big cousins letting him in on some of the action. They are good boys!
We spent an afternoon walking BYU campus. The kids had fun in the Eyring science building.
These pictures crack me up. You have click on them to enlarge to see how awesome Emily is. She was not a fan of being contained in the stroller. Funny.
And here are all the grandkids together. These are my favorite photos from our trip out. (well, at least of the pictures I've previewed. I haven't seen the zoo ones yet. They are on another camera...)
So still to come: The Zoo, the quilt for John and Megan's baby, and Easter. I know you are excited!
