New Things: With Photos That Hopefully Work

I've been trying to get some things together that Isaac can do fairly independently when I need to give attention to a newborn.  To that end I made some homemade playdough.  And I just had to let him have a go at it.  He loved it!  But I am glad I made it because he does love to try and eat it.  At least I know exactly what he's consuming.

But when I pulled out the camera....this is what I got.  This is what I almost always get when I pull out the camera.  This grin followed closely by a request to see the photo and if that doesn't happen then I get a little bit of a melt down.  I get a lot of little melt downs these days.  I guess that comes with 2.

And then I told him just to play with the playdough.  And he did.

I absolutely love this face.  He makes this face quite a bit when he is surprised or interested or excited about something he hears outside (like a train, garbage truck, dad coming home, etc.) or if I tell him something that is supposed to be a big deal.  It's really funny.

And then we got some snow.  The day before Isaac's birthday actually.  Which is interesting because I think I have pictures from a first big snow exactly a year ago.  But, seeing as how he was only a year old last year, this "big" snow was like the first time all over again.

He thought it was awesome.  He really wanted me to keep chasing him in the snow.  I'm sure he was sad that his very pregnant mom was less enthused about being in the snow.  I did take him back out later that afternoon and walk through the, then more melted, snow.

We also made a birthday cake.  I let him lick the beaters.  He was in heaven.

He's Officially 2

And I will officially post about it later.  And many other adventures.  But until tomorrow, or Monday, or later, here's our cute 2 year old boy!

Who Doesn't Love a Pumpkin Patch?

We all know I love the Fall.  And I love a good pumpkin patch experience.  We tried to go to a new one when John and Megan were visiting but got rained out.  Last year we went to one that neither Jacob or I were that impressed by.  The good news was we grew pumpkins last year so we were mostly just going for some photo ops with Isaac.  The two years before that we've just gone to one of the local garden centers to pick out a couple pumpkins because they sent a buy one get one coupon in the mail and that is most certainly how we roll.

So when a friend of mine in the ward invited us to go with she and her youngest three children last Thursday I jumped at the chance.  Apparently the elementary school was out due to parent teacher conferences or something like that.  So I packed Isaac up and told him we were going with the VanShars to a pumpkin patch.  I'm pretty sure I could have stopped at "going with the VanShars" and he would have been pleased as punch.  He loves their family.  But he was even more thrilled about pumpkins.  He gets excited every time he sees them at the grocery store.

This pumpkin patch turned out to be the real deal.  And I may never try another patch again.  It's a family owned farm and you do get to go out in the field and pick your own pumpkins.  We didn't do that Thursday...but later we did.  They also sell farm animals, eggs, and other produce.  They had a little area the kids could play in a hay maze, lots of places for photos, a play ground, other fun toys.  And all that was free. They charged a buck for a hay ride and 5 bucks for a small corn maze.  Those are the best prices I've seen.  I was sold!!!

Our first stop was to visit the animals.  Isaac loved watching the chickens and maybe chasing them a little too.

And as he watched the pig he kept saying "oink."  It was really cute.  He even got brave enough to touch the pig and the sheep.  I was impressed.

These are the cute VanShar children and Isaac.  They are patient with Isaac as he is VERY in their space and wanting to be right by them all the time.

I could not get a picture of Isaac looking at me.  He was way to busy looking at the tractors and people and all the excitement.

Isaac especially likes this VanShar child.  She is 4 and he wants to do everything she does.  Joanna, on the other hand, is kind of shy and reserved and takes a while to warm up to Isaac.  And sometimes just wants him to leave her alone.  Poor, pestered Joanna.

And because we had such a good time with the VanShars on Thursday we decided to bring Jacob and came back on Friday afternoon to actually pick our pumpkins.  More photos of that to come!

The Swetsville Zoo

Here are the rest of the photos from John and Megan's visit last week.  We went to the weird Swetsville zoo.  Isaac loves this place.  It is weird.  I think it's cool it's just strange that someone thought of it and built it.  But look at the happiness it brings to this little boy.

This was the first time for us actually playing the bells and other instruments.  It was loud and fun.  Probably the highlight of the trip for me.

Logan is so mellow.  He didn't fall asleep while we walked like we thought he would but he didn't cry at all with all the loud banging that was done on those bells and just was chill in his stroller the whole time.  Cute.

Thanks again for a good visit Carter family!  It was a lot of fun having you.  I think Isaac still misses "baby yogan."

A Budding Musician

I'm not sure many two year old kids could get legitimate music out of a trombone, but Isaac sure tried his hardest.  And I was impressed with his skills.

Check out the video on the Brunson Family Blog.

Temple

I forgot to mention something so exciting in my last post.  Well, I think it's super exciting at least.

The Church released the rendering of the Fort Collins Temple.

Here's the link. Check it out.  I think it is beautiful and can't hardly wait for the groundbreaking and construction to begin.

Cousins, Constructing and Fall Fun

This post is going to be a bit random, as most of my posts are these days.  It seems I don't pull pictures off my camera nearly as often as I used to.  And just now I realized I've missed some from another camera and will have to do another post another day.  Oh well.

The past few weeks I've let Isaac play the organ while I usually am fixing dinner.  It's good for all of us since I can cook a little more easily with him out of the kitchen and he thinks he's a concert musician.  It really is fun to watch him though.  He'll play on the keys for a little bit and then jump up to turn the pages in the children's hymn book to play a new song.  And if I'm really lucky he'll sing along while he plays "I am a Child of God."  And trust me when I say that it is the most adorable thing ever.

We recently enjoyed a visit from John, Megan and Logan.  It was so fun to meet my nephew and spend some time with their family.  Isaac loved Logan and I think the feeling was mutual.

I love Logan's face in this picture.  He was sometimes a little annoyed with Isaac cutting into his space.  I can't say I blame him.

The other pictures of their trip out here are on the other camera.  Check back later for those.  :)  But I think one of my favorite things between these two cousins was watching Isaac play "peek a boo" with a towel and Logan laughing so hard at him.  It was cute.

I just needed a picture of Isaac in his new BYU shirt (thanks Grandma Carter!) and couldn't resist with the olives on his fingers.  He loves olives.  Especially when he can eat them off his fingers.

And then today...

Jacob claims these overalls were the only pants in Isaac's drawer, but I'm pretty sure there was another option somewhere.  But, Isaac would wear these every day if I let him.  I bought them at a used kids sale and picked them up for his Halloween costume.  I had to take some pictures when he started digging in the dirt though.  Especially when he insisted on his dump truck.  This kid and all things construction...he kills me.!

Come on!  How cute is he so intent on his dirt.  So cute!
And can you believe he will be two in just under two weeks?  I cannot.  But I am gearing up for building a construction cake for this little construction man.

And just because I looked up from cooking dinner to see this lovely sight, I had to bust out the camera again.  I just love the fall!

There you have it.  You are caught up on life in the Brunson household these days.  Aside from the pending arrival of baby number two anyway!
