A View From Monday

Welcome to our Monday morning.

We finally got enough snow on Sunday to have to shovel.  And this was my view from my front window at about 8:00 this morning.

Remember that time we tiled our bathroom?

While my parents were visiting for Ben's baby blessing Jacob and I took the opportunity to tile our upstairs bathroom.  We couldn't have done it without the extra help from my parents, both in knowing how to tile and entertaining our boys.

This bathroom used to be carpeted.  Who puts carpet in a bathroom?  Especially one that is primarily used by kids.  I'm not sure why it was done but I do know that we had to change it.  I pulled up the carpet and discovered vinyl underneath.  Weird.

But we ripped that up too and then were left with the task of laying the tile.  It was actually kind of fun and will be especially great if we did a good enough job that it lasts many years.  I guess most of it was fun.  I did not like cleaning up all the grout haze.  We put down new baseboard and I still need to sand and do the touch up painting.  Maybe I'll get to that this week.

What do you think?

Brownie Batter

I think we make too many treats in this house.

I love the whole fist in the mouth.  That is pure awesomeness.

And I actually really like these pictures of my boys and I.  Isaac always wants to play the organ and we rarely actually turn it on.  And it's even more rare that I sit down to plunk out a one fingered melody.  But, on this Sunday, it was snowing and I needed to remember how the "Rain is Falling" song went so I could sing it to my cute boys.  Except we sang it "Snow is Falling" of course.

We have really great neighbors.  Most of the times we have gotten any snow this year the teenage boys next door have shoveled our sidewalks and sometimes our driveways too.  And then yesterday I was shoveling the snow and our neighbor and his wife from across the way came over to help.  Shoveling a 3 car driveway isn't the quickest of tasks but with the three of us it was done in no time.  Such kindness.

Isaac was super funny again yesterday.  I can't remember all the things he said but there were a couple of times Jacob and I were laughing pretty hard.  I like when he is having a not so tantrum filled day.  It's good to remember that this cute two year old really is enjoyable.

And Ben just watched it all and smiled.  What a pleasant baby he is.  Just what this family needed.

It was a good Sunday for us all.

Little Happenings

There is not much going on at our house lately.  We are pretty low key.

Just watching a cute babe get bigger.

Enjoying our time with said babe.  Man they grow too fast!

Brothers showing some love (at least Isaac is good to Ben some of the time...)

Being "Bob the Builder."  I'm pretty sure Jacob and I like the block set Isaac got for Christmas just as much or more than Isaac does.  We are usually the builders and Isaac is the wrecker.
 .
Evidence of the rapid growth...3-6 month clothing fits.

Ben wore red for Valentine's day.

Isaac wore a red bib for breakfast at least.

More cuddle time.

And then Isaac wanted to "sleep" with Dad and Ben too. Love the forced closed eyes all squinty-like.

And Ben loves his new place to chill.  I love it because I can raise the high chair enough that Isaac can do no damage.  Ben loves being on our level and chatting away with us.  He smiled instantly when I first put him in this chair.  And then chatted us up.  Now he maybe likes it a little less since the novelty has worn off.  But it's still working for when I cook dinner or whatever.

And that's really about it folks.  We are pretty boring these days.

2 Months Old

Can you believe this little boy of mine is 2 months old?  Because I cannot.  In some ways it feels like he's been with us forever and at other times it seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home for the first time.

I sure love this little guy.

He has started cooing and "talking" when you give him some attention.  He smiles like crazy for anyone who gives him the time of day too.

He eats like a champ and seems to be getting more round faced and chubby legged by the day.

He also is a pro at sleeping.  He really is on a pretty reliable schedule.  3-4 naps a day (2 long 1-2 short) and then has begun sleeping 6-7 hours at night.  Sometimes 8 but I almost don't want to say it out loud for fear of jinxing it.

His hair is coming back in.  I thought it would be light but it's coming in darker than Isaac's did at this age.  Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Ben has developed some interest in toys but primarily still likes people more.

Especially his brother Isaac.

And most of the time Isaac is pretty kind and gentle.  We only have the occasional throwing toys at or hitting poor Ben.  Isaac also started calling Ben "Benny" the other day.  I'm not sure where he got that.  I may have said it once but certainly not twice.  Isaac picks up on everything though so once was probably enough.  I mostly call him Ben and Jacob mostly calls him Benjamin.

And of course, Isaac can't be left out when pictures are happening.  He had to lay down and not look at the camera just like Ben.

Silly, adorable boys!

And here's a comparison from one month to two months...just for fun.

Family Photos

I'm not sure if I'm in love with these photos or if I feel like we need to try again.  If I thought taking pictures with one little one was hard, two is definitely harder.  I need to update my photo wall in my house though...badly.

Let me know what you think.

(I do love this one of the boys)

More Photos from a Visit

I've had these shirts since before Ben was born and have been wanting to take pictures of these cute brothers ever since.  But you know how it goes, where do you find time for that?  So, while my parents were out I thought I'd give it a go.  It was ridiculous.  Isaac would not look at me (he was however fine looking at my dad who was also snapping a few photos), he kept letting go of Ben who would then slide down the blanket propped on some chairs, and then the whole blanket-backdrop would come down.  It was comical. My mom was thoroughly entertained by the scene.

So, here was the best I could find from both my camera and my dad's.

I loved watching my dad read to Isaac.  Isaac loved having someone else to read to him other than his mom or dad.  Today Isaac told me "I love reading" as we finished up a few books before nap time.  And it's true, he does love reading.  At least most of the time.

This is a little outfit from my sister in Germany.  She gave it to Ben for Christmas and I noticed it didn't have snaps in the legs.  I thought that would prove to be really inconvenient with all the diaper changes and figured I wouldn't have him wear it too often.  Then I put it on and he looked so stinking cute in it that I'm sure he'll wear it way more often than I initially thought.  The blue matches his eyes perfectly.  Adorable.

And Isaac can't stand not being in a picture.

I still have one more set of photos that I'm going to post...maybe.  My dad tried taking some family photos for us so I'll have to see about posting some of them.
