"She is Growing Up"

The title of this post is an actual quote from one of my co-workers when I shared the following news this morning...

Jacob and I are officially under contract on a new house! Pending final inspections and official closing, this is our new home.

Kitchen

Dining area

There is also a half bath and laundry area on the main floor that weren't pictured.

So...let the moving fun begin! It will be a very slow process getting the house furnished and decorated but I'm already trying to decide which room in the house will be most suited for a new coat of red paint. Feel free to leave your suggestions and tips!

Congrats on the house. It looks like a nice place. Let me know if you and Jacob need help moving things in.

It looks great! I guess we'll have to prepare ourselves to come visit next year. :) Red in the basement....we had red in our room when we moved....do not use it for a master room!

It looks great! What fun! Moving is long and annoying but the joy in the end is worth it!

Looks good! I printed a Google map so I already know how to get there. Hope to get out there soon after all that other nonsense is over.

Wow, looks great!! Now the fun really begins!! Hopefully I'll be able to come and visit sometime as well. I like red as an accent maybe in more than one room :)

I am very jealous. Maybe someday I can have a house too...

What a sweet house! Congrats! I think red would be fun in the kitchen, but not your master bedroom.

What a fun house! I like the unique layout. I think red would be fun just on the small wall with the fireplace and then an accent wall in the kitchen, perhaps behind the cupboards. I'm sure you'll make it look good. It appears you'll have some space for visitors. I enjoy decorating and wish we were close to help out. Good luck with everything.

That is one impressive house!! It looks like you have room for company--maybe I'll come and visit some time. Red is good for dining areas--it has to be the proper red with a little black in it or something toward cranberry though. Congratulations. Aunt Lynda

Very nice, spacious house. I used "posh red" as an accent wall behind my dining table. It took several coats. What you have to consider is the emotion a color evokes. Red is a passionate, creative color. It is often used to increase appetite. So, if you have a lousy dinner at least the red wall will make you more inclined to eat it. Also good for a room in which you intend to be creative or have a lot of fun. Some people like red in their bedroom - if they don't intend to sleep much. ;-)

fun! that house totally needs some red paint... but not in the bedrooms. It sounds like a good idea, but I've never seen a red bedroom that I liked.

and use a primer.

So many changes! I'm so excited for you. I'm totally digging the staircase! I like red in the kitchen, but like a deep tuscan-type red. My mom has a deep red in her dining room (with a black tea stain over the top) it looks great. Good luck! I totally look forward to getting a house of my own someday :)

I thought I had left a comment on here, but am not seeing it. I think red in the kitchen (as you wanted a red kitchen anyway) and maybe on the outside...the trim perhaps? Yes, that is the dress you bought Katie...still cute eh? And yes, I got the email and did check out the site, the pictures on there were worth the effort. It gave me a better feel for the layout and look of the house. It reminds me of the houses just south of our neighborhood in Colorado. In between us and the church. Maybe that is why I said add red trim...there was a blue house with white and red trim that looked good.

WOW, and a 3 car garage to boot. Congratulations--it looks pretty move in ready. I'd have to say that red is for a dining room, also. Although I don't know that I'd go with a bright red--and yes, use primer. It helps if you tint the primer as well, covers better. Good luck!!

so this is a little late, but that's okey. First off congrats. Not on the house be on winning my secret blog contest, "who can get the most comments." Looks like I'm going to have to up my game. Maybe after schools out. So, in 2011 look for my blog to end all blogs. . . Anyway, I do have a few things to say about your house: it's nice I like it; you need to paint loads, most of the walls are boring neutrals, if you need my expertise I think something could be arranged; it's weird that you showed us a bunch of pictures of other peoples stuff; and last of all it's white trash blue, the outside.
