Happy Independence Day

We had a fun 4th of July this year.  Our town did a little parade this year to celebrate 100 years of City Park.  It was a very little parade, 20 minutes in total.  It was actually pretty perfect.  We weren't really up for spending 2 hours in the hot sun and this suited Isaac's attention span pretty well.  Plus, it was a parade full of old cars and horses.  Two things he loves.

And he got a sucker.  So he was pretty happy.

We then spent the afternoon with Jacob's Uncle and Aunt just outside of Denver.  We had dinner with them (delicious grilled chicken) and then went to their city park for a concert.  We opted to leave before fireworks began because we didn't want to be driving an hour or so home that late.  Isaac was still mostly awake when we neared home so we decided to stop at the city about 15 minutes to the south of us to see if we could catch their fireworks.  It was madness.  I'm sure they were twice as busy as usual because our city had canceled it's firework show.  So we drove around looking for parking for ever and then decided just to head home.  We were lucky to see some of the fireworks out our car window and hear them as we drove by.  So we had a parade, grilling, a concert and a few fireworks AND had Isaac in bed by about 9:45.
I call that a successful celebration.

Hope your celebration was too!
